Description

A quick and delicious recipe for caramelized onion grilled cheese that can be made in just 30 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt, cooking until they are soft and caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  3. While the onions are cooking, butter one side of each slice of bread.
  4. Once the onions are caramelized, remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, place two slices of bread, buttered side down, and add half of the cheese on top.
  6. Add the caramelized onions over the cheese, then top with the remaining cheese and the other slices of bread, buttered side up.
  7. Cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  8. Remove from the skillet, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Feel free to add additional ingredients like spinach or tomatoes for extra flavor.
  • Use a non-stick skillet for best results.
