Description

A hearty and comforting dish featuring seasoned hamburger steaks baked with a savory gravy and served with mashed potatoes.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into patties.
  3. In a skillet, brown the patties on both sides over medium heat.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup and beef broth.
  5. Place the browned patties in a baking dish and pour the soup mixture over them.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  7. If using, sprinkle shredded cheese on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes until melted.
  8. Serve over mashed potatoes.

  • Feel free to add your favorite vegetables to the dish.
  • This recipe can be easily doubled for larger gatherings.
