- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 12 large egg whites
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, sift together the cake flour and half of the sugar.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy, then add cream of tartar and salt.
- Continue beating until soft peaks form, then gradually add the remaining sugar.
- Fold in the flour mixture gently until just combined.
- Pour the batter into an ungreased tube pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the cake is golden and springs back when touched.
- Invert the pan to cool completely before removing the cake.
