Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the flour and salt, mixing until combined.
  4. Press two-thirds of the mixture into the bottom of a greased baking pan to form the crust.
  5. In another bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and brown sugar.
  6. Spread the apple mixture over the crust in the baking pan.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining crust mixture and oats over the apples.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • For a sweeter taste, add more brown sugar to the apple mixture.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
