- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup diced apples
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugars.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and then mix in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Fold in the diced apples gently.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Using a donut cutter, cut out the donuts from the batter and carefully place them in the hot oil.
- Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding chopped nuts or raisins to the batter.
- These donuts are best served warm.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
