- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3 large egg whites
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup apple pie filling
- Buttercream frosting (for filling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy, then gradually add the granulated sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg whites, being careful not to deflate the mixture.
- Add the vanilla extract and ground cinnamon, and mix until just combined.
- Transfer the batter to a piping bag and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Let the macarons sit at room temperature for 30-60 minutes until a skin forms on the surface.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, then let cool completely.
- Once cooled, sandwich the macarons with apple pie filling and buttercream frosting.
