- 1 cup Powdered Sugar (Reduce for a lighter glaze)
- 2 tablespoons Milk (Almond milk or any dairy-free version works)
- 2 tablespoons Melted Butter (Coconut oil is a dairy-free alternative)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, and salt.
- Cut in the cold unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the egg and ice water to the flour mixture; stir until the dough forms.
- Divide the dough in half, shape into disks, and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Peel and slice the apples, placing them in a large bowl.
- Mix in the brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt until the apples are evenly coated.
- Roll out one disk of dough on a floured surface to fit your baking dish.
- Place the rolled dough into the dish, pressing it gently to the edges.
- Pour the apple mixture onto the crust, ensuring an even distribution.
- Roll out the second disk of dough and place it over the apples. Seal the edges by crimping with a fork.
- Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Let cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
- Combine powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl to create a glaze. Drizzle over the slices just before serving.
