- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine in a large bowl the ground beef, rice, onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Mix together in a separate bowl the tomato sauce and beef broth.
- Layer the meat mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.
- Pour the tomato sauce mixture over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle cheese on top (if using), and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let sit for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Add fresh herbs to enhance the flavor and feel free to experiment with different cheeses.
