  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  4. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs until well blended.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  7. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are golden.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
