- 1 package cream cheese (8 oz)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup blueberries (for folding)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (for folding)
- 2 loaves French bread, cubed
- 2 cups milk
- 8 large eggs
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 1 lemon zest + juice (2 tbsp juice)
- 1 cup blueberries (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a large baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Add the milk and vanilla extract to the mixture, beating until fully incorporated.
- Fold in 1 cup of blueberries and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon zest, and lemon juice (2 tablespoons) in a separate bowl.
- Layer half of the cubed French bread in the prepared baking dish.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the bread layer.
- Top with the remaining half of the cubed bread.
- Pour the egg mixture over the top, ensuring all bread pieces are soaked.
- Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- Remove from the fridge and let sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before baking.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
- Top with fresh blueberries before serving.
Notes
For a diabetic-friendly option, consider using sugar substitutes for powdered sugar.
