- 4 medium sweet potatoes
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Pierce the sweet potatoes with a fork and bake for about 45 minutes or until tender.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add brown sugar, bourbon, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until combined.
- Once the sweet potatoes are done, let them cool slightly, then peel and mash them in a bowl.
- Mix the bourbon mixture into the mashed sweet potatoes until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
- Serve warm as a delightful side dish.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of bourbon to taste.
- For a richer flavor, add chopped pecans on top before baking.
