- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Spread half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan.
- In a separate bowl, prepare the cookie dough by creaming together butter and sugars, then adding eggs and vanilla.
- Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt until combined, then fold in chocolate chips.
- Spread the cookie dough over the brownie layer in the pan.
- Drop spoonfuls of the remaining brownie batter on top of the cookie layer.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- These can be frozen for up to 2 months.
