Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the chopped cabbage, cooking until it begins to wilt.
  4. Add the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, uncooked rice, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the rice is tender.
  6. Adjust seasoning as needed and serve hot.

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with lentils or a meat alternative.
