  • Red and green sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  6. Divide the dough in half and add peppermint extract to one half, coloring it with red food coloring.
  7. Roll out small pieces of each dough into ropes and twist them together to form candy cane shapes.
  8. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Sprinkle with red and green sugar before baking.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden.
  11. Let cool on a wire rack before serving.
