Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add the frozen and grated butter, mixing until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the fresh cherries, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
- Combine the heavy cream, egg, vanilla, and almond extract in a separate bowl.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface, shaping it into a circle about 1 inch thick.
- Cut the circle into wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- Whisk together the confectioner’s sugar, 2 tablespoons of heavy cream, and 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm scones.
