Description

A classic French dessert made with fresh cherries and a custard-like batter.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter for greasing the baking dish


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Spread the pitted cherries evenly in the bottom of the dish.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, flour, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter over the cherries in the baking dish.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving.

  • Can be dusted with powdered sugar before serving.
