Description
A delicious twist on a classic treat featuring sweet apples and a flaky crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 6 tablespoons ice water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Set aside.
- In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the mixture forms a ball.
- Roll out half of the dough to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place the bottom crust in the pie plate.
- Fill with the apple mixture and cover with the remaining rolled-out dough.
- Seal and cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the apples are soft and the crust is golden brown.
- Let cool before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter flavor, add more sugar to the apple mixture.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
