Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 6 tablespoons ice water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the mixture forms a ball.
  5. Roll out half of the dough to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place the bottom crust in the pie plate.
  6. Fill with the apple mixture and cover with the remaining rolled-out dough.
  7. Seal and cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the apples are soft and the crust is golden brown.
  9. Let cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter flavor, add more sugar to the apple mixture.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
