Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Submerge the whole chicken in the buttermilk mixture and marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
  3. In a separate bowl, place the flour.
  4. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and let the excess drip off, then coat it in the flour.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes per batch.
  7. Drain on paper towels and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
