Ingredients

  • 1 cup chickpeas, soaked overnight
  • 2 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Sauté until they start to splutter.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
  5. Mix in turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt.
  6. Add diced potatoes and soaked chickpeas, stirring well.
  7. Pour in enough water to cover the ingredients and bring to a boil.
  8. Reduce heat and let it simmer until potatoes are tender and chickpeas are cooked through.
  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add green chilies.
  • Serve with rice or naan for a complete meal.
