- 1 cup chickpeas, soaked overnight
- 2 medium potatoes, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Sauté until they start to splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
- Mix in turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt.
- Add diced potatoes and soaked chickpeas, stirring well.
- Pour in enough water to cover the ingredients and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and let it simmer until potatoes are tender and chickpeas are cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add green chilies.
- Serve with rice or naan for a complete meal.
- This dish can be made ahead and reheated.
