- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
- 8 oz dark chocolate, melted
- ½ cup heavy cream
- Fresh strawberries for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a heart-shaped cake pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and buttermilk.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chopped strawberries.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely before removing it from the pan.
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering, then pour it over the melted dark chocolate. Stir until smooth.
- Once the cake is cooled, pour the chocolate ganache over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.
- Decorate with fresh strawberries on top.
