- 1 chocolate cake, baked and cooled
- 2 cups cherries, pitted and halved
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Cut the chocolate cake into cubes.
- In a bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- In a trifle dish, layer half of the chocolate cake cubes at the bottom.
- Add half of the cherries on top of the cake layer.
- Spread half of the whipped cream over the cherries.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, cherries, and whipped cream.
- Top with chocolate shavings for garnish.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate cake.
- Feel free to substitute fresh cherries with canned cherries in syrup.
- This dessert can be made a day in advance for convenience.
