Ingredients

  • 1 chocolate cake, baked and cooled
  • 2 cups cherries, pitted and halved
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cut the chocolate cake into cubes.
  2. In a bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  3. In a trifle dish, layer half of the chocolate cake cubes at the bottom.
  4. Add half of the cherries on top of the cake layer.
  5. Spread half of the whipped cream over the cherries.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, cherries, and whipped cream.
  7. Top with chocolate shavings for garnish.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate cake.
  • Feel free to substitute fresh cherries with canned cherries in syrup.
