- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 1/4 cups mascarpone cheese
- 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
- 24 ladyfingers
- Cocoa powder for dusting
- Dark chocolate shavings (optional)
Instructions
- Whisk together egg yolks and sugar until smooth and pale.
- Add milk and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Fold in mascarpone cheese until smooth.
- Combine brewed coffee and coffee liqueur (if using) in a shallow dish.
- Dip each ladyfinger quickly into the coffee mixture and layer them at the bottom of a serving dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 240 minutes, preferably overnight.
- Dust with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.
