Description

A beloved coffee-flavored dessert made with layers of ladyfingers and a creamy mascarpone mixture, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings (optional)


Instructions

  1. Whisk together egg yolks and sugar until smooth and pale.
  2. Add milk and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. Fold in mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  5. Combine brewed coffee and coffee liqueur (if using) in a shallow dish.
  6. Dip each ladyfinger quickly into the coffee mixture and layer them at the bottom of a serving dish.
  7. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  8. Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone.
  9. Cover and refrigerate for at least 240 minutes, preferably overnight.
  10. Dust with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes
