Description

A traditional Irish dish made with mashed potatoes and cabbage, perfect for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 4 cups chopped green cabbage
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes in a large pot of salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. In a separate pot, cook the chopped cabbage in boiling water for about 5 minutes until tender.
  3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  4. Add the milk and butter to the potatoes and mash until smooth.
  5. Stir in the cooked cabbage and green onions.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot, optionally topped with additional butter.

  • For a richer flavor, use cream instead of milk.
