- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, cut into sticks
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Preheat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Set up a breading station with three bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder and salt.
- Dip each mozzarella stick first in flour, then in the egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- Carefully place the breaded mozzarella sticks in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the poppers and drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, heat the maple syrup until warm.
- Drizzle the warm maple syrup over the crispy mozzarella poppers before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add herbs to the breadcrumb mixture.
- Serve immediately for the best texture.
- Can be baked instead of fried for a healthier option.
