Description

A hearty and comforting casserole made with pierogi and sausage, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of frozen pierogi (16 oz)
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and chicken broth until well combined.
  2. Layer half of the frozen pierogi in the bottom of the crockpot.
  3. Add half of the sliced sausage and half of the chopped onion on top of the pierogi.
  4. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the sausage and onion.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining pierogi, sausage, onion, and cheese.
  6. Pour the soup mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the pierogi are tender and the cheese is melted.

Notes

  • Feel free to use any type of sausage you prefer.
  • For a vegetarian option, omit the sausage and use vegetable broth.
  • This dish can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before cooking.
