Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass, and decorate with sprinkles if desired.
  8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden.
  9. To make royal icing, mix confectioners’ sugar with water until smooth, and add food coloring if desired.
  10. Once cookies are cool, decorate with royal icing.
