Description

A simple and tasty casserole that combines pierogi and sausage for a quick weeknight meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 package frozen pierogi (about 16 oz)
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the sliced sausage and chopped onion over medium heat until the sausage is browned and the onion is translucent.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup and milk until well combined.
  4. Add the frozen pierogi to the bowl and stir to coat them with the soup mixture.
  5. In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the pierogi mixture, followed by half of the sausage and onion mixture, and half of the cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • Feel free to use any type of sausage you prefer.
  • For a vegetarian option, omit the sausage and add more vegetables.
  • This casserole can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
