  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey, including under the skin.
  4. Season the turkey generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  5. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
  6. Stuff the cavity with fresh herbs.
  7. Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
  8. Roast in the preheated oven for about 3 to 4 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  9. Remove the foil during the last hour of cooking to allow the skin to brown.
  10. Let the turkey rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
