Description

A classic dessert that is smooth, creamy, and full of flavor, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it is warm but not boiling.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  4. Slowly pour the warm milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to prevent curdling.
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve into a measuring cup or bowl.
  6. Pour the custard mixture into individual ramekins or a baking dish.
  7. Place the ramekins in a baking pan and fill the pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool before refrigerating for at least 2 hours.
  10. Serve chilled, optionally topped with a sprinkle of nutmeg or cinnamon.

  • For a richer flavor, you can use half-and-half instead of milk.
