- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add the sliced onions and garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Stir in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Toast the hamburger buns lightly.
- Spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, top with shredded Swiss cheese, and place under the broiler until the cheese is melted.
- Serve immediately with the top half of the bun.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with lentils or a plant-based meat alternative.
- Feel free to add sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor.
