Description

Authentic Greek Chicken Souvlaki marinated with garlic, lemon, and oregano, grilled to perfection for a true taste of the Mediterranean.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, red wine vinegar, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and paprika in a large bowl.
  2. Stir the marinade well to ensure all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
  3. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  6. Remove the chicken from the marinade and thread the cubes onto the soaked skewers.
  7. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
  8. Remove the chicken skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
  9. Serve the souvlaki with lemon wedges on a platter, paired with tzatziki sauce, pita bread, and a simple Greek salad.

Notes

For best flavor, marinate the chicken overnight. Soak wooden skewers to prevent burning while grilling.
