Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 orange, zested and juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cranberries under cold water and remove any stems or damaged berries.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and orange juice. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Add the cranberries and orange zest to the saucepan. Return to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
  5. Stir in the ground cinnamon and remove from heat.
  6. Let the sauce cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • This sauce can be made a few days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to your taste.
  • For a twist, add chopped nuts or dried fruits.
