Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cranberries under cold water and remove any stems or bad berries.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the water and sugar over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add the cranberries to the saucepan and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the cranberries burst.
  5. If using, stir in the cinnamon and mix well.
  6. Remove from heat and let it cool. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
  7. Transfer to a serving dish and refrigerate until ready to serve.
