Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 cup strawberry jam
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add the cubed butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in cold water until the dough comes together.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into rectangles.
  7. Place a spoonful of strawberry jam on half of the rectangles.
  8. Top with the remaining rectangles and seal the edges with a fork.
  9. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Mix powdered sugar and milk to make icing and drizzle over cooled pop tarts.

Notes

  • Feel free to use any fruit jam of your choice.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
  • These pop tarts can be frozen for later use.
