Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 3-4 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onions and mushrooms until soft.
  4. Add the heavy cream, salt, and pepper to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  5. In a large bowl, mix the green beans with the cream mixture and half of the Gruyère cheese.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with the remaining Gruyère cheese and crispy fried onions.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
  • Feel free to add garlic for extra flavor.
