Description

Delight in the comforting taste of homemade Mexican donuts, also known as buñuelos, that bring family together with their pillowy texture and sweet cinnamon-sugar coating.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for dusting)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Mix in a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Add add milk and egg; stir until a soft dough forms.
  3. Heat heat vegetable oil in a pot to about 350°F (175°C).
  4. Roll roll out the dough to half an inch thick and cut out donut shapes.
  5. Fry fry each donut in hot oil until golden brown, about two minutes per side.
  6. Remove remove from oil, drain on paper towels, and toss in cinnamon-sugar while warm.

Notes

For a healthier alternative, use sugar substitutes for people with diabetes. Ensure the oil reaches the correct temperature for perfect frying.
