A healthier twist on a classic Chinese-American dish, this Oven-Baked General Tso’s Chicken is both crispy and flavorful, perfect for weeknight dinners.

- 1 lb Chicken breasts
- 1 cup Flour
- 2 Eggs
- 1 cup Bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup Soy sauce
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp Sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp Red pepper flakes
- 2 cups Brown rice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces.
- Set up a breading station: flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and bread crumbs in a third.
- Dip each piece of chicken in flour, then eggs, and finally coat with bread crumbs.
- Place the chicken pieces on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- While chicken is baking, prepare the sauce by mixing soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Cook the sauce until it thickens slightly.
- Once chicken is done, toss it in the sauce.
- Serve over a bowl of brown rice.
Notes
Allow the breaded chicken to rest for a few minutes before baking for a crispier coating.
