Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 slices of rye bread
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Secret sauce (mayonnaise, ketchup, and relish mixed together)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat and add the sliced onions. Cook until caramelized.
  2. In a separate bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then form into patties.
  3. Cook the patties in the skillet until browned and cooked through.
  4. Assemble the melts by placing a patty on a slice of rye bread, topping with caramelized onions and a slice of Swiss cheese.
  5. Spread secret sauce on another slice of rye bread and place it on top to complete the sandwich.
  6. Grill the sandwich in the skillet with the remaining butter until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted.
