- 1 (5-7 lb) prime rib roast
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Rub the prime rib roast with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Press the grated Parmesan cheese onto the surface of the roast to form a crust.
- Place the roast in a roasting pan and insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the meat.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue cooking until the desired doneness is reached.
- Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 130°F (54°C).
- Letting the roast rest is crucial for juicy meat.
