Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, melt the butter and mix in the granulated sugar until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the red food coloring until the batter is evenly colored.
  7. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth, then add the powdered sugar and egg, mixing until well combined.
  8. Pour half of the red velvet batter into the prepared pan, then dollop the cream cheese mixture on top.
  9. Pour the remaining red velvet batter over the cream cheese layer and swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.
