- 1 pound Ground pork or beef
- 1/4 cup Breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons Hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon Minced ginger
- 1 large Egg
- 1 teaspoon Sesame oil

- 1/2 cup Hoisin sauce (for glaze)

- 2 tablespoons Rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Sesame oil (for glaze)
- 1 tablespoon Water (for glaze)
- 1/4 cup Finely chopped scallions
- 2 tablespoons Soy sauce (for scallion sauce)
- 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar (for scallion sauce)
- 1 tablespoon Sesame oil (for scallion sauce)
- 1 teaspoon Sugar (for scallion sauce)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
- Combine the ground pork or beef, breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, egg, sesame oil, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about the size of a golf ball, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20–25 minutes, or until cooked through.
- In a small saucepan, whisk together 1/2 cup hoisin sauce, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, and 1 tablespoon water.
- Simmer over low heat for about 5–10 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Transfer the cooked meatballs to the saucepan and coat them thoroughly in the glaze.
- Stir to ensure meatballs are evenly coated, add more water if needed for consistency.
- In a separate bowl, mix the finely chopped scallions, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, and sugar together to create a scallion sauce.
- Serve the saucy meatballs hot, garnished with scallion sauce on the side.
Notes
For added flavor, use fresh garlic and ginger. Adjust the spice level by adding crushed red pepper flakes if desired.
