Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sourdough starter
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sun dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (e.g., mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 2 tablespoons dried herbs (e.g., basil, oregano)
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda (for boiling)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter and warm water until combined.
  2. Add the flour, sun dried tomatoes, cheese, herbs, salt, and sugar. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 4-6 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape each piece into a bagel.
  7. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add baking soda.
  8. Boil each bagel for 1-2 minutes on each side, then remove and place on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool before serving.
