A delicious and spicy twist on traditional bagels, perfect for springtime breakfasts.
Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup diced jalapeños (fresh or pickled)
- 1 tablespoon everything bagel seasoning (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture, and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Incorporate the shredded cheddar cheese and diced jalapeños into the dough.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and bring a large pot of water to a boil.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape each piece into a bagel.
- Boil the bagels in the water for 1-2 minutes on each side, then remove and place on a baking sheet.
- Sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on top if desired.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes
- For extra spice, add more jalapeños or use spicy cheese.
- These bagels can be frozen after baking for later use.
