Description

A flavorful and nostalgic dish that captures the essence of vibrant Mexican street markets with crispy, spiced potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Dice the potatoes into 1-inch cubes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add potatoes and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender and golden brown (15-20 min).
  4. Incorporate the salt, smoked paprika, chili powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl, stirring to combine.
  5. Add the remaining vegetable oil and minced garlic to the skillet; cook for 1 min until fragrant.
  6. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the potatoes; toss to coat and cook for an additional 2-3 min.
  7. Remove from heat, stirring in lime juice until well mixed.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve warm.

Notes

Adjust spice levels according to your preference. For a variation, you can add cheese, but it might stray from the traditional recipe.
