Description

Delightful rolls combining sweet strawberries with warm cinnamon, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup strawberries, chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Heat the milk in a saucepan until warm, then add the butter, stirring until melted.
  3. Pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the remaining flour, mixing until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  6. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  7. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until it doubles in size.
  8. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  9. Spread softened butter over the dough.
  10. Sprinkle the cinnamon and brown sugar evenly over the buttered dough.
  11. Arrange the chopped strawberries on top of the sugar mixture.
  12. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other.
  13. Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal slices.
  14. Place the slices cut-side up in a greased baking dish.
  15. Cover the dish with a towel and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  16. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  17. Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  18. Allow to cool slightly before preparing the icing.
  19. Whisk powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk together in a small bowl until smooth.
  20. Drizzle the icing over the warm rolls.
  21. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor. You can freeze the rolls for later enjoyment.
