Description

A classic Southern dish that combines various meats and vegetables into a hearty stew.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 2 cups cooked pork, shredded
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup corn, frozen or fresh
  • 1 cup lima beans, frozen or fresh
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.
  2. Add the shredded chicken and pork to the pot.
  3. Pour in the beef broth and diced tomatoes, stirring to combine.
  4. Add the corn and lima beans, and mix well.
  5. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce, if using.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Bring the stew to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for about 30 minutes.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • This stew can be made ahead of time and tastes even better the next day.
  • Feel free to substitute or add other vegetables based on your preference.
  • For a thicker stew, let it simmer longer or add a cornstarch slurry.
