Description

Warm and custardy Traditional Irish Bread Pudding, infused with cinnamon and vanilla, is a comforting classic perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups stale bread, cubed
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins or sultanas
  • 1/2 cup butter (for whiskey sauce)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for whiskey sauce)
  • 1/4 cup whiskey (for whiskey sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Combine the cubed bread, milk, and cream in a large bowl. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to soak.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon in another bowl, and then add it to the bread mixture. Fold in the raisins.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until set and golden.
  5. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat, then whisk in the powdered sugar and whiskey until smooth to make the whiskey sauce.
  6. Serve the bread pudding warm with the whiskey sauce drizzled on top.

Notes

For a lighter option, consider using sugar substitutes like stevia or monk fruit.
