A delightful recipe for making the perfect almond kringle at home.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the yeast mixture, flour, salt, and almond extract to the butter mixture; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread sliced almonds on top.
- Fold the dough over to create a log shape and place it on a baking sheet.
- Brush the top with beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let it cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter kringle, add a glaze made of powdered sugar and milk on top.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
