Description

Ingredients

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, honey, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add whole wheat flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  7. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish.
  8. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter roll, add more honey to the dough.
  • These rolls can be frozen after baking for later use.
