Description

Delightful homemade apple dumplings filled with spiced apples, wrapped in flaky pastry—perfect for cozy gatherings or as a festive treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples
  • 1 package of refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and core the apples.
  3. Roll out the pie crusts and cut into squares large enough to wrap around each apple.
  4. Place an apple in the center of each square.
  5. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, then fill the hollow of each apple with some of the mixture.
  6. Wrap the dough around each apple and seal, placing them in a baking dish.
  7. Heat water, butter, and remaining sugar and cinnamon in a saucepan until dissolved, then pour over the dumplings.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm, preferably with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For diabetes-friendly options, consider using sugar substitutes like stevia or monk fruit. Ensure the dumplings are sealed well to prevent leaks.
